The Boonsboro Historical Society received this little gem recently from the family of Donald Young.

Most of us walk by our town’s WWI Memorial without thinking much about it, but in 1919, the Town of Boonsboro was busy welcoming home its heroes from a world war and wearing these ribbons.

The memorial, pictured on the ribbon badge, was dedicated on July 4, 1919 and is located in front of Town Hall, the former Boonsboro Bank building.

Thank you to all those who have sent us historical photos and items like this ribbon. We are very happy to receive historical photos of our town, its people and events. The Historical Society scans them and preserves them electronically as part of our Pass It On program for all to see.

If you have old photos you would like to give us or allow us to scan and return, please contact Kristin Bowl at passiton@boonsborohistoricalsociety.org
