Boonsboro Historical Society Speaker Series
The Boonsboro Historical Society hosts a speaker the fourth Thursday of each month at the Boonsboro Free Library from 6:30-8:00pm. While we encourage membership, it is not required to attend our Speaker Series.
Following are some of our upcoming speakers for 2025. Note that we do not have speakers in December or January and we host a picnic in July in place of a speaker.
April 22
Jeff Semler – 19th Century Agriculture (including “Hearts of Gold” cantaloupes). Jeff is Extension Educator at University of Maryland Extension
May 27
John Schildt – Experiences Over 60 Years as an Antietam Battlefield Guide. John has written several books, including: September Echoes, Drums Along the Antietam, Four Days in October, Roads to Antietam, Jackson and the Preachers, Antietam Hospitals, and Antietam Through the Years.
June 24
Gary Rohrer – Arched Bridges of Antietam Creek – Gary was born and raised in Washington County, where his family goes back at least 225 years. His study of the Civil War and passion for the 1862 Maryland Campaign spans more than 55 years. He is an NPS Certified Antietam, South Mountain and Harpers Ferry Battlefield Guide.

August 26
Tracey McIntire – 19th Century Medical Practices – Tracey is Director of Communications at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine and an interpretive volunteer at Antietam National Battlefield. She is also an active Civil War living historian, where she portrays a woman soldier in various guises.
